An elected Liberal Government will provide $300,000 from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to install smart public lighting at Hodgson Reserve in Bentleigh. The project will enhance visibility at night, deter anti-social behaviour, and create a more secure environment for families, joggers, and park visitors.

Tim Wilson, Liberal candidate for Goldstein, said this funding would help ensure people in the local Bentleigh community feel safe as they go about their daily lives.

"This funding is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community. I’ve heard firsthand from Bentleigh residents that safety is a priority, and we’re responding with practical measures to help make public spaces safer for everyone,” Mr Wilson said.

"We have limited parkland, and we need to make it accessible for when residents need it to balance out their lives. Smart lighting means they can use our previous open space safely at night for relaxation, exercise and enjoyment".

Mayor of Glen Eira City Council, Cr Simone Zmood, thanked the Liberal Party for this commitment.

Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson said under a Liberal Government, the Goldstein community will be stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.

“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.

"Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting."

This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country Back on Track.
