Tim Wilson: The economic consequences of the Albanese budget continue to devastate the Australian economy. Today, we've had data released from the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and it shows that nearly 40 per cent of Australian small businesses are paying themselves $40,000 to nothing every year in wages. We have 40,000 Australian small business owners who are at risk of being pushed below the poverty line under the Albanese government because they cannot kick their spending addiction and they continue to increase taxes, specifically hitting and targeting small business.

And the only response the Albanese government has to nearly 40 percent of Australian small businesses at risk of being pushed below the poverty line is to let them eat taxes. This government does not have the long-term economic future and aspiration of Australians at heart. This government is seeking to kneecap small business owners and the next generation of Australians who want to be successful.

We've got a taxaholic Treasurer that continues to add more taxes onto small business, families, and households, and send them backwards. Yesterday, our taxaholic Treasurer was forced into yet another humiliating backdown on his budget, where he had to change laws around early-stage startups.

Our taxaholic Treasurer is only focused on how to impose more taxes on small business and households, pushing them deeper under financial water.

We've also seen a continued problem with the housing market since the Albanese government's budget.

While young Australians are trying to save a first home deposit, the Albanese government is increasing rents, designed by their budget. While first home buyers are trying to get ahead, they're watching a smashed confidence in the housing market under the Albanese government because it can't kick its taxation addiction. And we're seeing a collapse in the top end of home values under the Albanese government because it can't kick its taxation addiction.

Australians are falling further behind in wages and wealth under the Albanese government because of its addiction to inflation, and it continues to engage in a failed economic model of stoking inflation, taxing inflation, and spending inflation, where real wages and wealth are falling further behind.
