The Australian Government’s Volunteer Grants Program supports local community organisations by helping them reduce the costs faced by their volunteers. Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 are available to eligible not‑for‑profit groups to strengthen volunteer participation and support the vital work volunteers do in our community.

Funding may be used for items and activities that assist volunteers, including:

  • Communication equipment such as laptops, tablets, or mobile phones
  • Software, internet plans, and electronic payment devices
  • Insurance costs for volunteers
  • Safety equipment, first aid kits, and hygiene supplies
  • Volunteer training and background checks
  • Reimbursement for fuel or transport costs
  • Tools, appliances, and equipment needed for volunteer‑run activities

To be eligible, organisations must:

  • Be a not‑for‑profit entity
  • Rely on volunteers, with at least 40% of the workforce made up of volunteers
  • Be able to demonstrate how the grant will support volunteer activities
  • Participate through our nomination process (this is a closed, non‑competitive grant)

The process:

  • Local organisations should submit an initial application (Expression of Interest) to the Goldstein electorate office.
  • Tim Wilson MP will nominate eligible organisations to the Department of Social Services.
  • Nominated organisations will be invited by the Community Grants Hub to submit a full application in May 2026.

Key Dates:

  • Initial expression of interest period: Currently Open, Closes 3 April 2026, 5:00pm
  • Formal applications open: 18 May 2026
  • Formal applications close: 29 May 2026, 5:00pm

The Goldstein electorate office will run an information session for organisation leaders to learn about the program. We will outline eligibility requirements, the application process, and answer any questions.
